John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is the nations first UNDERWATER park! Enjoy our beautiful coral reefs on a scuba or snorkel trip. If you prefer to stay dry, the ‘Spirit of Pennekamp’ glass-bottom boat is a comfortable, climate-controlled trip with an awesome view of the reef. If you prefer to stay on the land, our Visitor Center boasts a 30,000-gallon saltwater aquarium with many live samples of reef creatures. In addition, we have canoe and kayak trails, nature trails, beaches on Largo Sound, a playground, and a campground. Adjacent to Pennekamp is the Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary. Both these pristine coral reef areas are protected by law against environmental abuse, guaranteeing this beautiful resource will last for many generations.
